Asheville NC Hosts Singles Event over Spring Holy Days
Twenty singles from nine different states gathered in the scenic, rolling hills of North Carolina for a weekend highlighted by an all day tour of the breathtaking Biltmore Estates. From as far west as California to as far east as New York, the group enjoyed getting together for fun activities and fellowship during the last days of Unleavened Bread. The almost two to one ratio of women (13) to men (7), provided an interesting group dynamic that the women admitted was quite refreshing as the men prepared the meals for the group.
Two cozy cottages set in a wooded and secluded location served as the rustic accommodations for most of the singles. The ladies occupied the more spacious unit on the high ground while the
men secured the modern cabin within walking distance down the steep, gravel road.
The weekend officially kicked off with a Friday evening cookout of grilled BBQ chicken and baked fish along with other tasty unleavened bread items including some delicious unleavened brownies!
The visiting singles doubled the size of the small NC congregation and contributed in providing piano playing, opening and closing prayers, special music and even the sermontte on the LDUB Holy Day.
Saturday afternoon lunch was at a fine Italian restaurant in one of the newer developments in the Asheville area. Evening activities ensued at the ladies quarters that included, dancing, ping pong, fuseball, darts and feasting on more unleavened brownies! After the men retired, the ladies continued to socialize with intense “girl talk” into the wee hours of the night.
Sunday’s visit to the lavish Biltmore Castle and Estates was definitely the highlight of the event as singles were able to see incredible furnishing, artwork, antiques and historical items furnished throughout the house. A tour of the winery was also included.
Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the interaction of the smaller group. One of the ladies described the event as "great weekend fun with no pressure to couple up".
